- John 10:10
- The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
- I’ve learned, through many stumbles and falls, several important things concerning this matter of abundant life and I see more clearly every day just what it really consists of.
- Stay with me and I believe you’ll see it, too.
- There are two main keys that lead to unlocking the secret to abundant living; purpose and happiness.
You’re probably thinking by now that I’ve finally lost it.
Not hardly, I’ve just found it.
The scripture above addresses purpose.
What purpose does the thief serve?
His goal is one thing and that is to steal.
Jesus’ purpose, on the other hand, was to give us life and give that life more abundantly.
How did He accomplish this? By giving of Himself unselfishly. That was His purpose.
Through His Life’s Blood we have the benefit of Eternal Life.
- The second point is this.
- Most folks spend a great deal of time searching for this thing called happiness.
I’ve found that happiness is not something that can be searched for and found. The reason?
Happiness is a by-product of satisfaction, which is, being satisfied with one’s purpose and place in life.
Now we’re getting down to the “real nitty-gritty”.
- When was the last time you considered your purpose in life as one of serving and giving of yourself to others?
Just as Jesus gave His life for us, we are to give our lives and efforts to others.
We could never come close to the Atoning death of Jesus on Calvary’s Tree, but God does expect us to take on the disciple’s responsibility of spreading His love by our actions and the “giving “ of our time and efforts in making the lives of others better.
- If you know a shut-in or a person that just needs a friendly visit, go share the Love of Jesus Christ and see if you find some of that purpose and happiness that goes along with an abundant life in Christ!
