- Statistics:
- Statistics are always useful; but, they can't be used if you don't send them in the collectors.
Lifeway and the State Conventions partner together to compile useful information on our churches. In 2008 the total SBC churches were recorded at 44,848.
- Of the 44,848 . . . 35,442 reported Sunday School information:
28,730 of the 35,442 churches reporting Sunday School information were 124 or less in average Sunday School attendance.
That's eighty-one per cent (81%).
- The (B.S.C.L.N.) Bivocational & Smaller Church Leadership Network which is the former (S.B.B.M.A.) Southern Baptist Bivocational Ministers Association defines a Smaller Church as a church that has 125 or less average in a primary worship service.
- Folks . . . that means a high per cent of the SBC Churches are Smaller Churches.
- Smaller Churches Are Important
- You Smaller Church Pastors are important to the Louisiana Baptist Convention as well as the Southern Baptist Convention, which means you are important to "World Wide Missions".
- What a great opportunity to tell this exciting good news to your church and to explain what role the "Cooperative Program" plays in allowing even the smallest participating church to share equally in the support of International and Home Missionaries in excess of 10,000 strong, not to mention the Seminaries and countless other ministries.
- In these challenging financial times, smaller churches are probably more financially stable than larger churches . . . wouldn't it be great if we could lead the way to increasing our CP giving by at least 1%
- Power of Cooperation
- Look at the power of cooperation:
1243 churches with un-designated receipts of $75,000.00 each increasing CP by 1%
would generate an additional $932,250.00 this year.
